Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In yet another case of crime against women in the state, the Meerut police have arrested four accused, including the main culprit for allegedly making an obscene video of a 16-year-old girl and circulating it on social media.
According to the police, the incident took place three months ago under Kithor police station limits in the district. The matter came to light after the accused shared a video on social media recently. The girl's family filed an FIR in connection with the case.
According to the FIR, the main accused Shakir established physical relations with the girl on the pretext of marrying her. On the fateful day, the accused took the girl to a nearby forest and established physical relations with her. The main accused was soon joined by his three friends, who undressed her and filmed the whole act on their phones. The victim alleged that the defendant beat her with sticks and rods when she resisted.
Almost three months after the incident, the accused also shared the video with the girl's brother when her family went to the main accused Shakir's house with a marriage proposal. However, he not only refused to marry the girl but also spread the video on social media to smear her.
The family decided to approach the police after the accused circulated the girl's video on social media. Based on a complaint, the police quickly managed to catch four people, including the main accused.
“The accused — Pappu, Javed, and Alam — were involved in filming the act. They also indulged in physical violence with the girl. We seized their phone and sent them for forensic examination,” said Kamlesh Bahadur, SP of Meerut (Rural).
The police have formed several teams to nab the remaining accused.
